The Mamponghene and the Occupant of the Silver Stool of Asante, Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, known in private life as Saint Oswald Gyimah-Kessie has revealed that the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the first dignitary who is not part of the [Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs but received historic welcome from the Queenmothers.

According to Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, it is the first time non member of the House [Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs], and non member of Asanteman is paying them [Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs] a visit and the Queenmothers before 9:am

He indicated that the record shows that the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs hold the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia high esteem.

“For the record, you are the first dignitary, external dignitary, that is a non member of the House (Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs), and non member of Asanteman, who is paying us a visit and Nananom, especially some of the Queenmothers were here before 9:00 o’clock etc etc. This shows for the record, the high esteem that we accord you (Bawumia), and hold you.” – Daasebre Osei Bonsu II, stated.

Mamponghene said this when Dr Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on the Ashanti Regional House of Chiefs on Monday, June 10, 2024 as part of his campaign tour of the region.

Dr. Bawumia is on a three-day campaign tour in the Ashanti Region which is the stronghold of the NPP.

As part of the tour, the vice president surprisingly paid a courtesy call on the Black Stars on Sunday ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifier against the Central African Republic match on Monday.

Dr. Bawumia will meet party executives, market women and others to tell them his plans and visions for them ahead of the 2024 general elections.

The NPP is determined to win the general electiosn to break the 8 year circle in government in the history of Ghana.

With Dr. Bawumia as the flagbearer, he will break many records in the political landscape in the country.
