The Member of Parliament for Techiman North Constituency, Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare, has donated 5, 300 reading books to some SHSs, Basic schools within her constituency.

Hon. Elizabeth  was accompanied by some of the Techiman North National Democratic Congress constituency executives and donated the books to Akrofrom R/C basic school, Abrafi Senior High School, Bouyem St. Francis Seminary/Senior High School,  Buoyem SDA basic school and Krobo R/C Primary School

Addressing the school authority, students, parents and the media, the legislature admitted that she is who she is today due to education and therefore determined to ensure that her constituents enjoy nothing but the best of education.

According to her, the books was given to her by the American based Africa Library Project and she deem it necessary to give out to these young ones to support them in their quest to attain higher heights in education

“The best way to be knowledgeable is to read so I collaborated with Africa Library Protect that is based in America for them to provide me with books and I in turn donates those books to schools within my constituency”

“I gave our forms to schools that will need books and those that successfully filed and submitted the forms are those that benefited from today’s donation. At Bouyem SDA Basic School, I gave them thousand (1,000) library books and these books are standardize books being used in the United States of America, schools likes Krobo R/C Primary School and Akrofrom R/C basic school all got thousand library books to enhance teaching and learning process in the school.” Hon. Elizabeth revealed.

She further disclosed that the books she donated were based on the level of education in each school as the secondary schools got advanced library books compared to that of the basic schools.

Lawyer Elizabeth urged other schools who did have the share of the books to exercise patience and wait at the right time to deliver them to the schools.

“I’m not done with this project, I will continue to donate the books to other schools in the constituency so I will urge schools that are yet to fill the forms I gave out to fill it and submit it to enable me to know the schools that are in need of the books” she said.

At the St. Francis Seminary/SHS, Hon. Elizabeth gave the school 300 integrated science workbooks as part of her Senior High Inter-Science Project. s

Rev Father Martin Bilson Oduro, rector of the school, applauded Hon Elizabeth for her kind gesture and commitment to promote quality education in her constituency. He revealed that the books will go a long way to ensure the success of both the school and its students.

He use the opportunity to call on the government and other individual to come to the aid of the school in terms of book donation and other logistics

“We really appreciate what Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has given us 300 science work books which will help to enhance the teaching and learning activities in the school.”

“The school needs a lot of help such as classroom blocks and dormitory blocks so we appeal to all Ghanaians to come to our aid and help us in acquiring these things.”  Rev Father Martin Bilson Oduro appealed.

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) government under the leadership of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is determined to make access to school easy.

The government on several occasions have vowed to ensure that every student will acquire at least a Senior High School (SHS) certificate hence, the introduction of the Free SHS.
