The District Chief Executive of Techiman North, Hon. Addo Donkor Everson, has assured the people of Jama and other commuters of the Techiman-Wenchi Highway that all potholes on the stretch will be fixed as contractors will be on site very soon.
Chiefs and people of Jama in the Techiman north have over the years lamented about the negligence of the Ghana Highway Authority and the Techiman north assembly in fixing the numerous potholes on the Techiman – Wenchi highway.
The Jamahene, Nana Gyambaa Akumfi Ameyaw, has pleaded with the DCE and the Ghana Highway Authority to come to their to help ease the accidents cases in that starches of the roads so far as potholes on the highway is concerned.
He said this when Hon. Addo Donkor Everson, engaged with some communities within his area of jurisdiction to ascertain some immediate challenges facing the communities.
“The potholes are very big and this makes it very dangerous for those of us that use the road, I don’t know the work of the Highways in Techiman so I want the DCE to tell me what the duties of Ghana Highway Authority is”. Nana bemoaned.
Nana Gyambaa Akumfi Ameyaw, also called on the DCE to help demarcate Jama into two or more electoral areas, a move he believes will serve as a catalyst for development in Jama.
“Jama is now a very big town, to be honest, Jama is now even bigger than Krobo but Krobo has three electoral areas but Jama is only one, we have been petitioning the District Assembly to divide Jama into three electoral areas.
Reacting to these pleads, Hon. Addo Donkor Everson, assured the people of Jama that his government has put adequate measures in place and very soon, a contractor will be on site to work on the port holes.
“As part of our community engagement, we meet with Nananom and residents within the district to know their problems, Concerning the portholes from Derry Hotel to Wenchi, we have got a lot of complains about it but I have already spoken with the Highway Authorities about it and they have assured us that they have awarded it to a contractor so by the end June 2023, the contractor will be done with it”. Hon. Addo Donkor Everson said.
He also revealed that the Techiman North District Assembly is working on providing toilet facilities to some communities in the District.
On the Jama Market, he said “the former MP, Oti Gyarko built the market but we have realized that the market has been abounded so we have inaugurated a committee comprising if three assembly members to find out why the market has been abandoned so we can know our next line of action.”
