The Bono East Regional Manager for the National Road Safety Authority, Mr. Parry Emmanuel Acheampong, has stated that the 2023 Xmas and New Year’s celebrations recorded fewer accident cases as compared to previous years.
Mr. Acheampong, attributed this to the adherence of road safety measures by road users and other road safety campaigns during the before and during the festivities.
In an interview on Classic FM’s Nkwasosem program with Kobla Abochie, which was monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, he said “The accident cases during the celebrations were less and everyone needs to recommend for the proper adherence of road signs and regulations.”
He revealed that an accident that occurred on 25th December 2023, that involved a salon car and a tricycle (Pregyia) on the Dr. Opoku -Techiman Senior High School Road, was the only major accident case in the region during the festivities
He further disclosed that that unfortunate incident claimed the lives of three (3) individuals “and apart from that accident, the region had accident-free festivities per the checks within regional office records.”
“My office is yet to gather all the cases within the region, life is precious and if one life is lost it is very worrying and measures are put in place to curb accident cases in the region,” he added.
Mr. Parry Emmanuel Acheampong lauded road users and said “Much is still needs to be done to ensure that the region is free from accident-related cases.”
He finally used the opportunity to advise the people of the Bono East region to be extremely careful on our roads in 2024 and beyond.
