The Techiman North District Director of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Samuel Agyei Ahimah, has urged the youth across the country to have confidence in the John Dramani Mahama–led government, assuring them of expanded employment and skills development opportunities.

According to him, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, through the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency, Mr. Malik Basintale, has introduced several initiatives aimed at addressing youth unemployment and empowering young people economically.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Ahimah encouraged young people who have completed school and are yet to benefit from any YEA initiative to compile their academic certificates and submit them to any YEA office. He explained that due process would ensure that qualified applicants are given the opportunity to benefit from the various programs.

“I urge the youth of this country to have faith in the John Dramani Mahama–led government, as His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, through the Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Mr. Malik Basintale, has many opportunities in store for them.

“I encourage young people who have completed school and are yet to benefit from any YEA initiative to compile their certificates and submit them to any YEA office. With time, they too will receive their fair share of the national cake.”

He further disclosed that the Agency has also rolled out programmes targeting youth without formal educational backgrounds. These include the National Apprenticeship Program, the Skills Training Program, and the Garment and Apparel Program, among others. He noted that these initiatives are designed to equip beneficiaries with practical skills to enhance their employability and self-reliance.

Mr. Samuel Agyei Ahimah disclosed that all YEA programs are free of charge, urging interested youth to walk into the nearest YEA office for assistance. According to him, officers are readily available to guide applicants through the selection and completion of their preferred application forms.

“There are also numerous programs available for those without any formal educational background. These include the National Apprenticeship Program, Skills Training Program, and the Garment and Apparel Program, among many others. All these initiatives have been introduced by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama through Mr. Malik Basintale, and they present great opportunities for the youth in the coming year.

“All these programs are free of charge. All that is required is for interested youth to walk into the nearest YEA office, where officers will assist them in selecting and completing their preferred application forms.”

Beyond job placement and skills training, the Techiman North YEA Director revealed that the Agency also offers free business advisory services. He encouraged young people with entrepreneurial ambitions to take advantage of the free consultations to properly plan and establish sustainable businesses.

“In addition to these programs, the Agency also offers free business advisory services. Young people who are interested in starting their own businesses are therefore encouraged to visit our office for free consultation.”

He assured the youth of the Agency’s commitment to supporting them to secure decent jobs, adding that issues beyond the mandate of the YEA would be referred to the office of the District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson. Matters requiring higher-level intervention, he said, would be promptly forwarded to the office of the Member of Parliament and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare.

“We are committed to assisting the youth to secure employment. Matters beyond the mandate of our office will be referred to the office of our able District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson. Issues that require the attention of our Member of Parliament and Minister for Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, will be promptly directed to her office.”

Mr. Ahimah stressed that the government remains focused on youth empowerment and urged young people to remain hopeful and proactive in accessing the opportunities available through the Youth Employment Agency.
