National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Henry Nana Boakye popularly known as Nana B has said the Special Prosecutor, Mr. Kissi Agyebeng got it wrong to describe former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta as a ‘fugitive’.
He said Mr. Ofori-Atta is not a fugitive and can not be one.
According to him, the former Finance Minister has for the records demonstrated his transparency and respect in response to all legal enquiries and state investigation involving him.
“To avoid any misunderstanding since he was appointed Minister of Finance in 2017, Mr. Ofori-Atta has consistently demonstrated transparency and respect in response to all legal enquiries and state investigation involving him. The Euro bond conflict of interest probed by CHRAJ, the vote by censure by Parliament always come to mind. Mr. Ofori Atta has remained present, fully engaged and open with the relevant authorities throughout this proceedings.” He stated.
“Mr. Ofori Atta can never be a fugitive, he is not a fugitive, and he will never be a fugitive. The OSP got it wrong” Nana B said this during the NPP Press Conference held on Thursday, February 13th, 2025 at the party Headquarters.
His comment comes after the OSP declared former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta wanted and fugitive.
But Nana B explained that Ofori-Atta left Ghana for medical attention two weeks after the OSP contacted him.
“Mr. Ofori Atta was already out of the country before OSP contacted him, he traveled on the 2nd of January and your letter came to him on the 24th of January. So how could a man be labeled as a fugitive when he was already in the country? Indeed, he was not even the Finance Minister about 8 months before the election and you Mr. Kissi Agyebeng you were the Special Prosecutor and he was in the country throughout.” He explained.
“For 8 months to the election you could not invite the person, the person steps out of the country for medical attention and it is not as if you wrote to the person before he traveled. Your letter came two weeks after he travelled and yet you unreasonably labeled this person as a fugitive.” Nana B added.
