Oheneba Nana Asiedu, an aide to the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been arrested by the Ghana Police Service for publication of false news.
According to the Police, the suspect was arrested on Saturday, 23rd November, 2024 for false publication contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offence Act, 1960 (Act 29).
“The Ghana Police Service, has today, 23rd November, 2024 arrested suspect Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a Kumasi-based radio and television presenter, for offences including publication of false news contrary to section 208 of the Criminal Offence Act, 1960 (Act 29).” The Police announced.
The Police said the suspect will be presented before the court for him to face justice.
“The suspect is currently in Police custody and the case will be presented before the court for him to face justice.” The statement added.

The suspect, Oheneba Nana Asiedu on Wontumi TV said “Many people presented their names to the Electoral Commission to be voted as president. The EC subsequently did balloting and because the candidates are many, the December 7 polls will be held in two phases. We will first vote from number 1 on the ballot paper to number 7 which includes Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and then number 8, 9, 10 going will be voted later.”
“So 7th December, we are first going for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s election. Maybe in the next day or two days later, we will vote for the second (2) persons, followed by the third (3) in order. The 7th December is Saturday, the voting starts at 7am prompt and we are going to vote on the first 7 people, of which Dr. Bawumia is number 1. So anyone who will not vote for Dr. Bawumia will not be given the chance to vote. Police, Soldiers and the Electoral Commission will not allow you to vote.”
“If you want to get a chance to vote, go and vote for Bawumia.”
