Founder and leader of the New Force, Nana Kwame Bediako has emphasized the importance of applying industrial and technological support in agriculture in the Bono East Region.
Cheddar as he is popularly known, is of the view that, agriculture when integrated with technology and industrialization can boost the country’s economy while making the country self-reliant in terms of food production.
He highlighted the need to leverage industrial resources, technologies, and expertise to enhance productivity, efficiency, and sustainability in agricultural practices and systems in the region.
Touching on his vision for Techiman and the Bono East region, he said “first of all, I think we have to apply industrial support, if we were doing hundred acres, we should simply find a way to do thousand hectares and this is where we are going to need a lot of equipment and a lot of irrigation system because you can’t use humans to water that, we need industrial power to water that and therefore you need to advance your irrigation system and also the fertilizing system.”
“so there are things that can grow in three month but we can advance it into two months and then after that we go into processing, the processing is what can help us to go into supplying power, distribution power, demand will come from this area because once you are able to do the distribution then you are able to keep supply and I thing that side of distribution will create job for logistics, it will create jobs through logistics and there will be potential aspect of using technology to support the entire industrial platform for expanding agriculture.” He said.
Nana Kwame Bediako continued, “I think processing is very important even our foods needs to be processed because are still eating raw foods and by the time we are 45 and 50 we either have some kind of big stomach or blood pressure but once we start to process our food, we will be more healthier, there will be less of everything and we will still be making more money out of it.”
By advocating for the application of industry support in agriculture, Nana Kwame Bediako aims to catalyze innovation, investment, and collaboration between the industrial and agricultural sectors to drive economic growth, job creation, and food security in Bono East. By integrating industry best practices, value chains, and supply networks into agricultural activities, he envisions a more competitive, resilient, and inclusive agriculture sector that benefits farmers, businesses, and communities alike.
“The strategic alignment of industry support with agriculture in Bono East holds the potential to unlock new opportunities, markets, and value-added products, transforming the rural economy, diversifying livelihoods, and reducing dependency on traditional farming practices.” He said
Cheddar seeks to harness the untapped potential of the agriculture sector, optimize resource utilization, and promote sustainable development that enhances the prosperity and well-being of the people in the region by fostering synergies, partnerships, and knowledge exchange between industry players and agricultural stakeholders
