US President-elect, Donald Trump has threatened to impose 100% tariffs on BRICS countries if they pursue their agenda of replacing the US Dollar.
Members of BRICS countries which includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Ethiopia and Egypt have proposed to create a common currency to reduce the highly reliance on the US Dollar in international trading.
The proposal was led by Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
In a post on X (Formerly, Twitter), Donald Trump said if the BRICS countries continue their move to create BRICS Currency or any other Currency, they will face 100% Tariffs and should be prepared to part ways to sell into the wonderful U.S. Economy.
“The idea that the BRICS Countries are trying to move away from the Dollar while we stand by and watch is OVER. We require a commitment from these Countries that they will neither create a new BRICS Currency, nor back any other Currency to replace the mighty U.S. Dollar or, they will face 100% Tariffs, and should expect to say goodbye to selling into the wonderful U.S. Economy. ” Trump posted.
According to Trump, they (BRICS Countries) can find another sucker and say goodbye to America should their ideas to create a new Currency become successful.
“They can go find another “sucker!” There is no chance that the BRICS will replace the U.S. Dollar in International Trade, and any Country that tries should wave goodbye to America.” Trump added.
The decision by the BRICS Countries has posed an economic threat to the American economy.
