A political Science lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, Dr Isaac Brako, has advised the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo to demonstrate the use of the quality before the law.

Dr. Isaac, made this comment in reference to a viral video where the president’s daughter was seen standing beside him making a call while the National Anthem was being played where it seemed Nana Addo played a blind eye to the actions of his daughter.

“One principle of the rule of law is equality before the law, this is nobody is bigger than the law, so the treatment of a person who has gone against the law must be the same to another person who commits the same offence so the President must demonstrate that irrespective of the person in question”. He explained

He explained that “I thought when the first issue concerning the Chief popped up, people would learn from it but with the video concerning the President’s daughter, it seems there are still people who don’t understand how to react to the national anthem and other national symbols”.

The Political Science Lecturer urged relevant stakeholders to educate the populace on the need to honour Ghana’s various National Symbols.

“The media, schools, Assemblies, political parties and other civil society organization must continue with the sensitization of the need to respect the National Anthem, our Coat of Arm and other National Symbols”
