Techiman North: Operation Light Up brings new streetlights to four communities

The Member of Parliament for Techiman North and Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, in collaboration with the District Chief Executive, Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson, has supervised the successful installation of streetlights in Krobo, Gyebiri, Akrofrom, and Aworowa.

The initiative, described by residents as timely and impactful, forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance security, improve night-time activities, and support community development across the district. The new lights have already begun transforming major streets, public spaces, and key access routes within the beneficiary communities.

During the inspection of the installations, Hon. Ofosu-Adjare disclosed that improving visibility and safety for residents remains a top priority. She noted that lighting communities does not only deter crime but also boosts local economic activities and strengthens social cohesion.

Hon. Adom Kwabena Johnson expressed similar sentiments, stating that the project reflects their shared vision of practical, people-centered leadership. He reaffirmed the commitment of the District Assembly to extend similar developments to other parts of Techiman North.

Residents of the four communities praised the initiative, describing it as a major intervention that will significantly improve mobility and security at night.

The streetlight installation exercise which falls under the “Operation Light Up” initiative underscores a broader agenda to accelerate development and ensure equitable access to essential infrastructure across Techiman North.
