Agrihouse Foundation, in partnership with the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, has held its maiden edition of the Ghana Agrochemicals and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards in Techiman, the Bono East Regional capital.
The two-day event, is aimed at educating farmers on the proper use of agrochemicals and crop protection methods to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region and Ghana as a whole.
The event, which took place at the Techiman Bonokyempem Hall, was chaired by the Vice President of the Bono East Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Basa, Nana Owusu Takyi III, and was graaced by the precene of the Bono East Regional Director of Agriculture, Mr. James Adu, the Bono East Regional Coordinating Director, Mr Issakah Braimah Basintale, Agriculture Extension Agents in the Bono East Region, Agrochemical companies, farmers and a section of the media.
The exhibition featured displays and demonstrations by leading agrochemical companies, providing farmers with insights into the latest crop protection technologies and best practices for safe and effective application of these products.
Addressing the media, the Chief Executive Officer of Agrihouse Foundation, Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, said “Our main agenda is to introduce or open the season for planting and by doing so we want to appreciate what we are applying in our soil because it goes a long way to inform what we eat at the end of the day.
“So what are we applying in our soil and what can of yields does it produce so basically we have brought together the crops protection and nutrition companies who inform what we consume who inform what we farmers put in our soil so you can see a lot of innovative solutions around, fertilizers both organic and inorganic, seeds, we have machinery and equipment and diverse exhibitors who are showcasing different brands.” She told our reporter.
In addition to the exhibitions, the event also included an awards ceremony to for farmers and agrochemical dealers who have made significant contributions to promoting responsible agrochemical use and sustainable farming practices in the Bono East Region.
Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, further disclosed that, her foundation is committed in promoting the agriculture sector as they have a lot of interventions for farmers across the country.
The Ghana Agrochemicals and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards is expected to become an annual event, providing a platform for continuous learning, networking, and recognition of excellence in the agricultural sector.
