“We wish to assure pensioners, contributors and the public of our commitment to managing the affairs of Trust prudently for the sustainability of the Pension Scheme.” The press release signed by the Board Chair of SSNIT, Elizabeth Akua Ohene read.
The announcement of the discontinuation of the Sale of 60% stake in hotels came few hours after the management of Rock City Hotel withdrew its bid to purchase 60% of SSNIT’s stake in four hotels.
“Therefore, we are writing to inform you of our decision to withdraw our bid and discontinue our pursuit of this investment opportunity. Finally, in the interest of accountability and transparency, we consent to you releasing all or whatever parts of our bid documents for public scrutiny or publishing the same if it should become necessary. We wish you continued success in your endeavours.” The management of Rock City Hotel said in a statement.
Despite Rock City Hotel’s decision to withdraw its bid to purchase 60% of SSNIT’s stake in four hotels, the Trade Union Congress (TUC) called on all members to lay down their tools in protest of the transaction.
According to them, they want total termination of process to divest 60% of SSNIT’s stake in the hotels.
The protest and public roar of the sales of SSNIT hotel was led by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.
