Residents of Akrofoum in the Techiman District of the Bono East region of Ghana, have issued a heartfelt appeal to the Member of Parliament for Techiman South and Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development Minister, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, and the relevant authorities to come to their aid in solving their current water crisis.

Residents of Akrofrom are currently  facing a critical water crisis, for the past month, residents have been struggling with the harsh reality of water scarcity, which has severely impacted their daily lives and livelihoods.

A resident, Martin Kwasi Afful in an interview with Classic FM, described the situation in Akrofrom as dire. According to him, water, which is a fundamental necessity for health, sanitation, and economic activities, has become a scarce commodity for them as children, who should be playing and studying, are instead burdened with the task of fetching water from distant locations.

Mr. Matin Kwasi, revealed that, a pipe that supply water to the Akrofoum community has been damaged for a month and those in charge of fixing it has turn a blind eye to it. He therefore called on the Member of Parliament for Tehciman South and Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development Minister, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah and the relevant authorities to prioritize the provision of clean water to the community by fixing the said damaged pipe.

“My personal investigation has revealed that, one of the pipes that pumps water to our community is faulty and that is why for the past month, we are not getting enough water in the community.

“I will plead the authorities to come to our aid, I will also plead with our Member of Parliament, Hon. Martin Adjei-Mensah to help us to fix the faulty pipe so that we can also get access to water in our community.” He told Rev. Nana Amakye.

Mr. Martin Afful and the residents of Akrofrom are hopeful that their elected representative and the authorities will heed their plea and take swift action to resolve the water crisis since access to clean water is not just a basic human right but a fundamental necessity for the community’s survival and prosperity.
