The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama is under fire over his promise to pay Teachers who agree to serve in a rural school 20% of their salary as an incentive should Ghanaians give the NDC mandate to govern the country again.
According to the former president. “Teachers who agree to serve in a rural school will be paid 20% of their salary as an incentive. This will encourage teachers to accept to serve in rural schools.”
Reacting to this, social media users have questioned the sustainability and possibility of the promise.
Others believe the best thing any president should do is to develop the rural areas and make it attractive to the teachers.

And now when we are trying to take it back it has become a problem because they think it is their right to be paid money because they have entered a teacher or nursing training college. Please don’t start something that one day will come back to haunt us.” One said.
