The Chief and elders of Sefwi Akwabengkrom in the Bia East District of the Western Region of Ghana,  have signaled a stern warning to the various political parties especially the ruling New Patriotic Party leaders in the Constituency not to step foot in the town for campaign should they refuse to address their needs.

The  Chief of Akwabengkrom, Nana Kwasi Akwabeng  II, in an interview with Boafo FM monitored by elvisanokyenews.com,  said they wrote a letter to the assembly in 2017 and listed all their problems but from 2017 to date, none of their challenges have been addressed hence the need for the warning.

“Our main challenge has to do with our primary school, the state of the school is nothing to write home about, we have been voting in this town but we cannot point out a single developmental project done by the government in this community,”

“What we are telling the government is that from now until the 2024 elections, we want the government to provide us with teachers in the primary school because the teachers are not enough and even it’s the community that has employed some teachers to teach our children in the primary and Junior High school.” He said.

Nana Kwasi Akwabeng II, continued, “we wrote a letter to the government in 2017 that we need a CHIP compound but the government is yet to provide us with one, our children don’t even have chairs to sit on while in school, so the government must do the needful. Aside from that, we need 50 bags of cement from the government and 10 packets of roofing sheets from the government to enable us to do some renovation work at the school. we want to make it clear that if they refuse to help us, then in 2024, we will not entertain any politician in this community”

Nana Kwasi Akwabeng II added that the community needs a Transformer which has high voltage because they cannot use appliances that have high voltage consumption

He lastly used this opportunity to expressed his profound gratitude to the Forestry Commission for the kind of help they are giving to the community

“The Forestry Commission has been our saviours for the time being, they have really helped my community in providing roofing sheets and other necessities in our primary and junior High School so i want to use this opportunity to thank them for their help and will also plead that they should continue to help  Akwabengkrom”

For his part, Nana Amenano who is the Kurontihene of Akwabengkrom added his voice to what the chief has said by reiterating that no attempt should be made by any politician to come and campaign if their challenges are not solved before election 2024.
