The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate at Effia constituency, Majeed Dorkurgu, on March 30, 2024, donated bags of water, soft drinks, and an undisclosed amount of money to the EKMA District Football Association as part of his developmental plans and vision for the constituency.
The benevolent act by the NDC Parliamentary aspirant for Effia constituency, was aimed at supporting community initiatives, sports development, and youth empowerment in Effia as he did not support only the Municipal Football Association but also Football Club owners within the Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality.
EKMA football chairman, Mr. Michael Quarshie who received the items on behalf of the association thanked Majeed Dorkurgu for his kind gesture towards the Association and promised to help develop players for the constituency.
“We are very happy to receive these items today, it will help us a lot in developing football in the municipality, the football association alone can’t do the work and support like these nature is what pushes the association in discharging its duties/
“As a football association, it is our duty to develop talents in the municipality and we promise to do so because with football and the right talents, Effia Kwesimintsim Municipality can be heard across the world.” He said
He also promised to develop sports in general and not only football as well as construction of Astro Turf to help develop more talents in the Effia Constituency when given the seat.
“I aims to promote social cohesion, physical health, and talent development among youth, athletes, and stakeholders in the constituency hence today’s donation, I will look at all disciplines in sports and not only football and I promise to construct an Astro Turf for the municipality when you give me the opportunity to present you in Parliament.” He explained.
