Ghana’s giant Telecommunication Network MTN has revealed plans to expand their coverage and improve on quality of network to some areas in the Bono, Bono East, and the Ahafo regions before the end of the year 2025.
The move, according to Mr. Philip Annin, the Bono, Bono East, and the Ahafo regional engineer for three regions has become necessary as some areas were having network challenges, whereas other areas were also without out of coverage.
At the annual editors forum for some selected media practitioners with the three regions, Mr. Annin noted that the process had already started with some areas at the completion stage despite the end of 2025 deadline.
Speaking in an interview with Ark News, he mentioned that, communities like Baakoniaba, Abesim all within the Sunyani Municipality would benefit from the expansion adding that, Berekum government Hospital area, Continental and Berekum Township as well as Adadieso and Beremano all in the Bono region were earmarked for the expansion including other three areas in the Bono East region.
Mr. Philip Annin added that, in the company’s quest to addressing their clients concerns, there was the need to bridge the coverage gabs which existed in areas like Baakoniaba, Abesim twonship and Beremano where they had no network to address growing concerns raised.
He was optimistic that, per works done on the Abesim and Baakoniaba stretch, the client should expect an effective network by next week, whereas others will be completed soon.
Touching on challenges they faced, Mr. Annin noted there were 3 issues that were affecting their delivery of good services to their clients within the region.
He said fibber cut, pole theft, and insecurity were issues of concern affecting their operations.
Mr. Philip Annin said that due to curfew on some towns and communities in the region, their staff are unable to work around the clock to beat curfew time, making it difficult to address their concerns promptly.
He also added that thieves were making away with some of their poles. They had their fibber cables on which was affecting their service delivery.
