The Techiman Nkwaeso Assembly Hall of Jehovah Witness on Friday, 14th July, 2023, kick-started a month long convention with the theme “Exercise Patience”.

This year’s global convention is the first of its kind after the Covid-19 pandemic, forcing leaders of the congregation to pause its annual conference with 2019 being the last time such convention was held in such a large group setting.

Although the Church held virtual conventions during the pandemic, they deemed it fit to continue their annual conventions at large gatherings as before the pandemic.

Spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, said, “As much as we loved the convenience and quality of our virtual conventions, nothing can replace being together in a large group setting”

This year’s convention, which started Friday, July 14, 2023, will end on 20th August, 2023 as the Nkwaeso Assembly Hall of Jehovah Witness will host six convention sessions with each session lasting for three days (every Friday to Sunday).  A live baptism is expected to be performed each Saturday morning session and prerecorded drams will be featured in two parts during the Saturday and Sunday afternoon session.

Speaking to elvisanokyenews.com, George Kwarteng Frimpong, a local spokesperson for the convention, revealed that, “the reason we didn’t continue with the virtual convention is that, doing it virtually does not give us the opportunity to meet our brothers and sisters personally to discuss matters of interest also some people may not have the full concentrating to listen to the speeches during the virtual programs”.

Touching on the theme of this year’s , he told our reporter that, having patience helps us to tolerate others and also make us appreciate the work if Jehovah ”

Mr. George Kwarteng Frimpong, said patience is a virtue that we all need to hold in high esteem and “we must study the Bible because it’s the only way that we can have patience”.

Mr. Joseph Kwame Kaw, who is also a local spokesperson, said “every Christian must possess the virtue of patience because Jehovah and Jesus Christ do everything with patience and if we are able to master the art of patience, we will get the blessings of God”.

According to him, baptism is a very important aspect of the church. He said although there is not a specific age limit concerning who can be baptized but those who can be baptized are those who have willingly accepted the word of Jehovah and voluntarily ready to follow the will of Jehovah.
