Former President John Dramani Mahama has responded to president Akufo-Addo statement that if he (Mahama) in the 2024 general elections and becomes president again he will destroy all the work he has done so Ghanaians should vote against him.

He said he will not protect the bad work of president Akufo-Addo that will put the citizens in a very difficult situation.

Addressing party supporters at a mini rally in Doboro in the Greater Accra region, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo stated that he cannot hand over power to someone he has defeated and seems not satisfied with everything he has done.

According to him, the only person who has worked with him for the past seven and half years and have faith in him that he can continue his good work is the Vice President and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and that Ghanaians should vote for him.

“And again when the time comes, our work is simple and not difficult, the person I defeated in the presidency and he is not pleased with everything I am doing, I cannot hand over power to such a person to take care of my legacy. He will destroy everything I have done when he come, so I am pleading with you, the person who have worked with for the past seven and half years and I have strong believe in him and I know that he can continue my work for you to benefit he is called Mahamudu Bawumia, we are voting for him to come ad succeed me” Nana Addo said.

Responding to this on X, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama stated that truely, he will not protect president Akufo-Addo bad legacy when he comes to power in 2025.

He said protecting president Akufo-Addo’s corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment among others will be the last thing he will do in his next administration.

Adding that his next government will ensure that the Ghanaian people will benefit from the resources in their own country so he won’t push the citizens into the poverty bracket like what Nana Addo has done.

“Of course, I will not protect your ‘legacy’ of corruption, misgovernance, arrogance, ineptitude, bankrupt economy, increased unemployment, and pushing more of our people into the poverty bracket.” Mahama wrote.

President Akufo-Addo on several occasions has vowed that he will do everything possible to ensure that vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will succeed him after the general elections.

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will make history in the political landscape of Ghana if he leads the NPP to break the 8.
