Popular Ghanaian actress Portia Asare’s appearance at the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s event to inspect the ongoing construction of Ghana Trade Fair Centre, there were some speculations that the actress has endorsed Dr. Bawumia.
In an interview with Blogger, Andre Mustapha popularly known as Attractive Mustapha, the actress clarified that her appearance at the event doesn’t mean that she has endorsed a political party ahead of the 2024 general elections.
According to her, the construction of Ghana Trade Fair Centre is a project for the entire country and as an actress in the Creative Art Industry, she has to be exposed to the things happening in the country.
“I am here because I am a Ghanaian, and what we are seeing here is for the country and as an Actress in the Creative Art Industry, I am for everyone, I am not doing partisan politics and is not because of the negative aspect. Governance is about both positive and negative………It is possible for me to endorse a political party one day.” She said.
Portia Asare also called on Ghanaians especially the various political parties to prioritize peace, unity and love before, during and after the elections.
“As a country, it is good to conduct an election to choose a leader for the country. This is not the first time, we have done it before so the most important thing is that we go for the election with peace, love and unity. What we are asking God is that he lead us in this election and choose the leader for us.” She urged.
The Actress also entreated every Ghanaian to go and exercise their franchise on December 7 and ensure that they promote peace and unity.
“I will urge every Ghanaian to go out and exercise their franchise as citizens and follow the rules and regulations. Everybody knows who they are going to vote for so they should go and vote peacefully.” She appealed.
