The New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has over the years reiterated its commitment to promote digitalization as a means to transform Ghana.

Led by the Vice President and the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has introduced several Applications for  Ghanaians to enjoy services without joining long queues like before.

Among other digitalization projects are Digitization at the port, digitization at the Scholarship Secretariat, .ECG App, Universal QR Code payment system, NHIS digitalization.

Though some people don’t feel the impact and relevance of some of these digitalizations, a proud Ghanaian has shared his experience on how an application he made online for a National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card was processed within 6 to 10 minutes.

The excited Ghanaian in a Facebook post is optimistic that the country can be transformed like any other country should measures be put in place.

Kay Kay Bee on social media said he never had an NHIS card but “MY NHIS APP” launched by the vice president has helped him to self-enroll into the scheme from the comfort of his home.

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, in December, 2022 launched an online self-enrolment mobile application for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) called ‘MyNHIS app’.

The ‘MyNHIS app’, helps people to self-enrol onto the scheme from the comfort of their homes, instead of visiting NHIS offices.

The APP also enables subscribers to renew their membership and that of third parties, access frequently asked questions (FAQs), aid in the location of all NHIS offices and also link NHIS cards to their Ghana cards.

The applicant who has experienced quick service delivery by the NHIS app stated that the process is simple.

Paa Kwasi Kukubor therefore advised people who don’t have an NHIS card to get registered.

“Gradually if we get our things right, this country will be a beautiful place. I have never had an NHIS card since its inception. I downloaded the “MY NHIS APP” on Play Store yesterday in evening. The instructions were very simple and within 6 to 10 minutes I was done with the registration I was given a new digital card which has my photo which I took during the Ghana card registration. All I did was pay 31.50 Cedis via MoMo and input my Ghana card ID.
No need to go join any queue for your NHIS card now. Get yours now if you don’t have it. You may never know when it will be of help to you.” He posted.
