The Member of Parliament for the Salaga-South Constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Mohammed Ibrahimah, has hosted students of Salaga Senior High School at Parliament House as they participated in the 2025 National Public Speaking Competition in Accra.
The visit, which took place on Friday, 12th December 2025, formed part of the students’ activities at the national finals after emerging winners of the Savannah Regional contest.
The delegation, led by Madam Milatu Tahiru, interacted with the MP and other officials as they prepared to showcase their skills in the national competition. This year’s event was organized under the auspices of the Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament and centred on the theme, “Sexual and Reproductive Health of the Adolescent Child.”
The national contest brought together six senior high schools from across the country, including Accra Academy, Osei-Tutu Senior High School, Swedru Senior High School, Sunyani Senior High School, Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School, and Awaso STEM Senior High School. After a highly competitive event, Sunyani Senior High School emerged winners, with Salaga Senior High School receiving recognition as the Most Promising School.
Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah commended the Salaga SHS students for their exceptional performance at the regional level and praised their confidence and eloquence during the national finals held in Parliament. She noted that their qualification to the national stage demonstrated the growing academic potential within the Salaga-South Constituency.
Responding to an appeal for transportation and logistical assistance, the MP presented an amount of Three Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢3,000.00) to support the school’s participation in the competition.
Hon. Zuwera also announced her plans to expand and enhance educational infrastructure in the constituency. She outlined upcoming projects, including upgrades to ICT facilities, science laboratories, classroom blocks, and accommodation at Salaga Senior High School and T. I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School. She emphasized that these interventions form part of her broader vision to strengthen teaching and learning and improve academic outcomes for all learners in the Salaga-South area.
Stakeholders who witnessed the event praised the MP’s continued commitment to education and expressed optimism that the students’ success would inspire many more learners from the constituency.
