Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has warned traders selling at the Flower Pot Interchange to desist from it or face the wrath of the Assembly.

He said they will make sure that anybody who will go there to sell will be driven away and if it means for them to use the Assembly bye-laws to prosecute hawkers who will do businesses at the newly commissioned interchange, they will do it.

“I have sent a signal, I mean business, anybody that will go there to sell we will come and drive you away. If it means we need to use the Assembly by-laws to prosecute you, we will do it.” The Minister said.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, monitored by Evisanokyenews.com, Titus Glover stated that he has instructed the Ledzokuku Municipal Chief Executive, Mordecai Quarshie to position security 24-hours at the place.

“I have instructed the Ledzokuku Municipal Chief Executive, Mordecai Quarshie to position security 24-hours at the place. They will make sure these hawkers will not turn the place into a business hub. So that is the first instruction I have given to him. And there are a couple of Police who are along the interchange to make sure that crime is prevented so I engaged them. look, you are here to prevent crime but as much as you are doing that kindly assist us and also make sure that nobody comes to sell anything under the interchange.” He said.

“And so for me I just want to send a signal there, that I am not joking, the President is in his last term of office, he is not going to compromise on some of these nuisances that are going on. So granted that that was your old place of selling now look at the edifice there, is that the place to sell banana and peanut? Is that the place to sell coconut? I mean, someone must use their common sense.” The Greater Accra Minister added.

The Flowerpot Interchange on the Spintex Road, Accra was commissioned by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
