The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has summoned senior national team, Black Stars head coach Otto Addo following the team’s abysmal performance during the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco after Ghana secured only three goals in six matches without a win.

In a press release issued on Thursday, November 21, 2024, the GFA said the Executive Council will meet the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Mr. Otto Addo, on November 27, 2024.

According to GFA, Otto Addo’s summons will help the Executive Council to, among other things, discuss his technical report on the just-ended AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the technical team since he took the mandate as the head coach of the team this year.

“The Executive Council will meet the Head Coach of the Black Stars, Mr. Otto Addo, on November 27, 2024, to discuss his technical report on the just-ended AFCON qualifiers and the overall performance of the technical team since he assumed duty earlier this year.” GFA announced.

“Members and stakeholders such as SWAG and the Media, National Sports Authority, PFAG, former captains and players, coaches, supporters, Football enthusiasts, Sports-related professionals (Medics, Economists, Marketers etc), and Opinion leaders (including traditional rulers) will be invited to the Retreat.” Part of the release read.

Meanwhile, Otto Addo has apologized for the team’s failure to qualify for the continental tournament.

“I would like to apologize for the results, I know for a lot of people, the World Cup is bigger than the AFCON but for me, personally the AFCON is bigger. This is my personal point of view. I know for a lot of people it is important to go to the World Cup and I will take it once. When I did it for the World Cup,  a lot of people were happy before I came.” Otto Addo said
