Some Youth of Amoma in the Kintampo South District of the Bono East region, have registered their displeasure towards the government concerning the poor nature of their road.

The youth, with the support of their Assembly Member and Unit Committee Members in a press conference, urged the ruling government led by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan, the Member of Parliament for Kintampo South, Hon. Alexander Gyan, the Kintampo South District Chief Executive, Hon. Opoku Nyame and the Road Minister, Hon. Asenso Boakye, to as a matter of urgency fix their road which stretches from Amoma Nkwanta to Amoma or forget the December 7, general elections.

According to them, the poor nature of the road, has made movement very difficult for the inhabitants of the town as drivers who ply their trade on the road mostly refuses to send them to their destination especially during raining seasons

Akwasi Appiah kubi a journalist and Unit Committee Member of the Amoma electoral area who doubles as the convener for the youth in Amoma, in an interview with the media, explained that, “Amoma is farming community of which mango and cashew farming is very predominant.

“We all know that farming contributes a lot to the economy of the country as it contributes 54% of our GDP. in the year 2019, our Member of Parliament who was then our DCE, Hon. Alexander Gyan, awarded the construction of our road to a contractor,  he said the work was supposed to be done within a two year period but as we speak, the road is yet to be constructed.

He continue, “our current DCE during one of his radio interviews said contractors were on site of which was not true, in the green book of the NDC, the Amoma road was captured as a constructed road but that is not true aside that, during one of their moment of truth series, they claimed the construction of our road was awarded to a contractor before John Dramani Mahama left office and that is also not true.

“We have realized that both the NPP and NDC are not willing to construct our road and they keep on telling us lies hence our decision not to vote come December 7th should the current government fails to construct our road.

The Assembly Member of Amoma East, Hon Adam Mohammed Kofi in his address to the media lamented on how residents of  Amoma especially pregnant women suffer to get transportation to the nearest health care.

“We always face difficulties during emergency cases or when a woman is in labor, just recently, a resident lost his life due to the poor nature of the road.

“We in Amoma also contribute to the growth of the nation by paying our taxes so we are pleading with the government to come to our aid because we are really suffering.” He told our reporter
