Big boost for agriculture: Salaga-South hosts high-level investor delegation

On monday, 24th November 2025, the Member of Parliament for Salaga-South constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, led a high-level delegation of investors to the palace of Yiram K0pembewura Banbange Ndefoso iv in Kpembe. the delegation was headed by Mr. Alfred Mahama, elder brother of the President of the Republic of Ghana, alongside a team of potential investors.

The visit was aimed at officially informing the kpembewura and his subjects of the investors’ plans to establish large-scale agricultural projects, with particular focus on irrigation farming within his traditional jurisdiction, especially the Kafaba enclave.

Mr. Alfred Mahama explained that salaga was chosen due to its fertile lands, ideal for intensive farming. he added that the project would include interventions to support local farmers, including access to tractors and machinery services, storage and processing facilities, extension services and training, and the provision of farm inputs. farmers will also have the opportunity to sell their produce to the investors after harvest.

Yiram Kpembewura welcomed the investors and commended their interest in developing his traditional area. He offered his blessings and encouraged the youth to take full advantage of the opportunities the project would present.

Hon. Hajia Zuwera expressed gratitude to the kpembewura, his chiefs, and queen mothers for supporting and approving the initiative. She recalled her longstanding relationship with Mr. Alfred Mahama since 1981 and said she was not surprised by his decision to bring such a major investment to salaga at a time when she serves as mp. She noted that the project is expected to create significant employment for the youth and strengthen salaga’s position as the food basket of the savannah region and ghana at large.

She added that the investors have also shown interest in supporting other sectors, including education, health, and potable water provision, and thanked Mr. Alfred Mahama and his team for prioritizing Salaga in this developmental initiative.

Following the engagement at the Kpembewura’s palace, the delegation visited Kafaba to meet Yiram Kafaba Wura, Sseidu Yahaya Nyenshunu and officially inform him and his people about the project. The Kafaba Wura expressed delight at the news, offered his blessings, and pledged full support, acknowledging the development opportunities the project would bring.

Hon. Zuwera again thanked the Kafaba Wura and his community for endorsing the initiative. She also disclosed that plans for awarding the Salaga–Kafaba road contract are far advanced and assured the chief and his people that positive news on the road will be announced soon.

Other members of the delegation included the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu, constituency executives led by Chairman Haruna Abdul Aziz and staff from the office of the MP.
