The news recently broke out that Ghanaian Afrobeat artist Raphael Kofi Attachie, best known as Camidoh, has been nominated for a BET Award.

The ‘Adole’ crooner has been nominated in the Viewer’s Choice: Best International Act category, alongside artists such as Asake, Maureen, MC Ryan SP, Paris Cooper, Raye, Werenoi, FLO, and Libianca.

Fans of Camidoh have congratulated him across all platforms, citing that he deserves the nomination due to his talent and musical prowess.

A popular blogger and publicist, known as Kwame Enzyme, has lambasted Ghanaians for not talking about Camidoh’s BET nomination as they usually do.

In a social media post, the blogger stated that everyone has kept quiet about Camidoh’s BET nomination simply because he is not their favorite artist.

He further added that if it were Black Sherif who had been nominated, everyone would have taken to social media and other platforms to discuss it.

Kwame Enzyme then commended Camidoh for his hard work in the industry, especially his hit song ‘Sugarcane’.

The blogger identified a problem, noting that many Ghanaians know Camidoh’s songs but not his personality, therefore, he urges Camidoh’s management to work on improving his visibility.

He wrote:

“Camidoh has just been nominated in the ‘Best New International Act’ category at the 2023 BET Awards 🇬🇭, but because it is not Black Sherif, nobody is talking about it.

Anyway, congratulations to the sugarcane hit maker. However, my only concern is that people know his songs but not his personality. His team needs to work on that.”

The Black Entertainment Awards (BET) is an American show established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network. Its purpose is to honor and celebrate black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, and other fields.

This year’s BET Awards, titled ‘Culture’s Biggest Night,’ will be airing live on Sunday, June 25th, 2023, at 8 pm.

Camidoh has made a name for himself in the music industry with hit songs such as “Sugarcane,” “Adoley,” “Maria,” “Slow,” “The Best,” “Kaba,” “For My Lover,” “Beautiful,” and many more.

Camidoh was born in Aflao in the Volta Region and was raised by a single mother.

He won the Best Afrobeats Song of the Year with “Sugarcane” and also received the International Collaboration of the Year award for the “Sugarcane” remix featuring King Promise, Mayorkun, and Darkoo.
