“Be transparent, accountable to your constituents” – Parliamentarians told

The Kontihene of Techiman Traditional Area and acting President of the Techiman Traditional Council, Nana Takyi Fri, has applauded the Speaker of Parliament,  Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for his outstanding efforts and dedication in protecting  parliamentary democracy.

According to him, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, since assuming office as the Speaker of Ghanaians Parliament, has been apolitical in all his dealings so far as Parliamentary proceedings and business is concerned.

Nana Takyi Fri, made this assertion at the palace of Oseadeeyo Nana Akumfi Ameyaw IV, when he received the Rt. Hon. Speaker and his entourage when Parliament paid a courtesy call on Nananom of Techiman as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.

“We are very pleased to welcome the Speaker of Parliament and all of Parliament in Techiman, I believe today’s is a historical day for the people of Techiman, although this is not the first time he has come to Techiman, he has been here before as the minority leader as well as the Majority leader but today, he is here as the Speaker of Parliament.

“The Speaker is doing a very good work for this country and we can all attest to it, I will encourage you to continue with you good deeds, since becoming the speaker, we are yet to see you doing any bidding of a political party during Parliamentary proceedings and we the Techiman Traditional Council applauds of you that and urge you to continue to serve the country in that manner. He said

Nana Takyi Fri also used the opportunity to address the importance of transparency and accountability in Parliament. He stressed the importance of transparency, accountability, and good governance in ensuring the continued success of Ghana’s democratic system.

“As Parliament is celebrating its 30 years anniversary, I will urge all Parliamentarians to be transparent in all their dealings and be accountable to your people, don’t forget that you are in Parliament to serve your people so the only way to protect Parliamentary democracy is to account your actions to the people that sent you to Parliament while being transparent.” He said
