BACL Ghana Limited in collaboration with Kemin Biologics and Green Generation Farms have organized a seminar to launch new vaccines and educate poultry farmers on best practices for vaccinating their birds with the aim of improving the overall poultry health and productivity in the Bono East Region.
The Seminar, which took place at the conference hall of Encom Hotel in the Techiman South Metropolitan Assembly, was attended by poultry farmers across the Bono East Region as well as veterinary officers with expert speakers from BACL Ghana Limited, Kemin Biologics, and Green Generation Farms taking turns to share valuable insights and knowledge on the importance of poultry vaccination. They stressed on the critical role vaccines play in protecting birds from various diseases and ensuring the sustainability of the poultry industry.
The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including the latest advancements in poultry vaccination, the benefits of using high-quality vaccines, and practical tips for effective vaccination practices.
Addressing the media, the Business Development Manager at BACL, Edmund Soda Amartey, said although Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD) is one of the leading diseases in poultry but Infectious Bronchitis (IB) is also a deadly diseases in poultry that needs urgent attention hence their collaboration with Kemin Biologics to manufacture combination of vaccines with to help curb the spread of Chronic Respiratory Diseases.
“Chronic Respiratory Diseases (CRD), has taken the center stage so far as poultry diseases is concern because that is what poultry farmers are aware of but Infectious Bronchitis (IB) is also dangerous and is rampant these days.
“We have come out with a lot vaccines, there a combination of vaccines with IB that we have given to Green Generation Farms as our main distributors. The vaccines we have introduced will help poultry farmers to combat a lot of diseases in their farms.
According to him, they have partnered with Green Generation Farms as their sole distribution of the newly launched vaccines that can combat the Chronic Respiratory Diseases and other diseases in poultry. He said “We educated the farmers on the proper way to administer vaccines, and how best they can care for their birds. Staff at Green Generation Farms have been well trained on how to administer vaccine including when and how to use the vaccines, so farmers in Techiman can visit Green Generation Farms for their vaccines and the needed education.
“We have gut enhancement product like adimix, coccidiostat such as aflocox and pro-biotics that can prevent many diseases in poultry farms, they are very effective and will help increase their production.”
“We have come out with a lot of vaccines such as LASOTA + H120 HB1 + H120, New cavac (ND) + Infectious Bronchites (IB), ND + IB + EDS ( Egg Drop Syndrome), that will help prevent diseases in poultry farms.” He said.
The Technical sales officers for BACL, Mr. Suraj on his part said poultry farmers were finding it difficult to get access to vaccines and feed additives but “BACL have now bring those vaccines to their door steps”. He said they educated farmers on biosecurity and treatments since they aim to move away from synthetic vaccines to organic and herbal vaccines.
“We realized that it will be prudent for us to help poultry farmers to increase their production by coming out with vaccines that will protect the birds from infectious diseases. We have come out with different vaccines that the farmers were finding it difficult to get access to and with the new vaccines, the spread of viral vaccines can be curbed.
“Aside the new vaccines, we also have feed additives that can prevent poultry diseases, we aim to provide solutions to the challenges of the farmers in terms of biosecurity, treatment, and prevention.
“Prevention is very important because there is a global effort to reduce synthetic products and produce more of organic and herbal products.” He said.
Some participants of the seminar in an interview with the media said they are grateful to BACL and their partners for organizing the seminar as it has broaden their horizon in poultry vaccination.
