A political activist and social media communicator for the ruling New Patriotic Party, Sir Obama Pokuase has highlighted some achievements by the Vice president Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the transformation of the Ghana Police Service.
The Vice President is the Chairman of the Ghana Police Service according to the constitution of Ghana.
Sir Obama indicated that under the tenure of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Ghana Police Service has been attractive and service delivery has been improved due to the availability of the necessary equipment.
He stated that the vice president proposed and supervised the “Procurement of three (3) Police Helicopters, the first time we have Police Helicopters in the history of Ghana, Procured Police Speed Boats, Police Drones for Policing, the first time we have Police drones since independence.”
“15,814 Police Officers have been recruited from 2017-2022, the largest recruitment done at the Police Service since independence, 504 housing units for the Ghana Police Service at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region constructed, Unprecedented retooling of the Police which includes Police pick ups, Police Visibility Motor bikes, Body cameras etc, Installation of CCTVs nationwide to help Ghana Police fight crimes.” He wrote on his X.
According to him, several police stations have been built for quick response and fight against crime in the country.
“Several district Police stations and Command centers like the Adaklu District Police Headquarters at Adaklu Waya, modern Police Station for the People of Ketu, Divisional Police Command, Tokor in Ketu South, an ultra modern police station at Shukura in the Ablekuma Central Etc.” He added.
