The shocking news surrounding the marital affairs of Cape Coast Mayor was as a result of an alleged extra – marital affair between Hon. Ernest Arthur and one Abigail Okorie, a graduate from the University of Cape Coast.
Elvisanokyenews.com reported in 2023 that consistent complaints of cheating by Hetty Arthur, ex-wife of Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive did not go well for the Mayor which ended up in legal separation Hon. Ernest Arthur and Mrs. Hetty Arthur.
News of Cape Coast Mayor having extra-marital affairs was reported on social media.
According to the report, the ex-wife who was not happy about the development asked her husband for further explanation but the couples failed to address their concerns privately and ended up in court for legal separation.
The 2023 report says Abigail Okorie, a graduate from the University of Cape Coast who was doing her national service was allegedly having office affairs with Mr. Arthur. As reports suggested that Abigail Okorie was pregnant for the Mayor at the time the report was filed.
Hon. Ernest Arthur, who was not happy about the development, took his wife to court and sought for divorce.
Cape Coast magistrate court on Wednesday witnessed the legal separation between Hon. Ernest Arthur, Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly Chief Executive and his wife, Mrs. Hetty Arthur, locally known as Maame Efua.
Hon. Ernest Arthur on his part, accused his wife for inability to perform her duties at home as a wife. He said his wife has refused to cook for him and also do the washing for him. He therefore filed for divorce at Cape Coast magistrate court.
They have been married for 14 years with 3 children, 2 boys and 1 girl.
According to the report, neither Ernest Arther nor Hetty Arthur paid spousal support. No other financial details were made publicly available. The report did note that Hetty Arthur does not plan on changing her name.
