Earlier this year, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo nominated 24 Ministers in a major reshuffle.
Their approval was on hold after they were vetted by the Parliamentary Committee.
Before their approval on Friday, May 17, 2024 the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government came under severe criticism by the Minority in Parliament for allowing the 24 ministerial nominees to work without approval from the parliament.
However, the Majority in Parliament justified the government’s decision to put 24 ministerial nominees to work without approval from the parliament.
The new 24 Ministerial and Deputy Ministerial Nominees approved by Parliament were eight (8) sector Ministers, two (2) Regional Ministers and fourteen (14) Deputy Ministers.
Below are the list of the 24 Ministerial Nominees approved by Parliament.
The following were the eight new ministers include:
1. Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture
2. Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources
3. Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development
4. Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
5. Darkoa Newman, Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection
6. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, Minister for Health
7. Fatimatu Abubakar, Minister for Information
8. Abena Osei-Asare, Minister of State at the Ministry of Finance
The Regional Ministers-Designate are:
1. Titus Glover, Minister for the Greater Accra Region
2. Daniel Machator, Minister for Oti Region
The 14 Deputy Ministers-Designate are:
1. Sylvester Tetteh, Deputy Minister for Information
2. Charles Acheampong, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation
3. Adelaide Ntim, Deputy Minister for Health
4. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Deputy Minister for Health
5. Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development
6. John Kobina Sanie, Deputy Minister for Energy
7. Collins Adomako Mensah, Deputy Minister for Energy
8. Dr. Prince Hamidu Armah, Deputy Minister for Works and Housing
9. Kingsley Nyarko, Deputy Minister for Education
10. Festus Awuah Kwofie, Deputy Minister for Employment and Labour
11. Akwasi Konadu, Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources
12. Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba, Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development

14. Dr Alexander Ampaabeng, a Deputy Minister Designate for Finance.
Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament staged a walk-out during the approval of the parliament.
