The Minister of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Owusu, has announced that government will, from Monday, November 3, 2025, commence registration for the much-anticipated Nkoko Nkitinkiti Poultry Program across all districts in the country.
According to the Minister, the initiative aims to boost local poultry production, create jobs, and reduce the country’s dependence on imported chicken.
He explained that interested persons are to visit their respective district assemblies to register, after which officers will inspect the sites designated for poultry rearing.
“We have putting measures in place and God willing, on Monday November 3, 2025, we will start with the registration of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ poultry program accross all the districts in the country.
“All you have to do is to visit your district assembly and register, afterwhich officers will visit the site you want to rear the chickens. Aside providing the chicken, we will also provide you with feeding free of charge.”
The Minister further disclosed that the list of selected beneficiaries will be published on the notice boards of the district assemblies for verification after registration. According to him, each constituency will receive 10,000 birds along with the required feed and technical support to ensure the success of the program.
‘The district assemblies will post the names of those that will be selected for the program at their notice boards so after registration, you can visit the assembly and verify if you have been selected.
”Each constituency will get 10,000 chicken as well as the needed feed for the program, the chicken are not day olds, they have been treated for sometime so they won’t be that young.
Hon. Owusu noted that the project will be implemented in phases. “It will be done on phases, so those that will benefit from the project this year won’t benefit again but the idea is that, they will be able to run the poultry themselves after the the chicken, feed, and needed support from government.
