President of the Maranatha Christian Church-Africa and President of the Maranatha College of Theology, Apostle Professor Stephen Sawiri, has advised Ministers of God against prophesying about the upcoming December elections and all subsequent elections.
Apostle Sawiri, stressed that, Ministers of God must maintain a non-partisan stance when it comes to political matters. He urged God’s Ministers and church leaders at large to refrain from making predictions or prophesying about election outcomes as such prophecies and predictions can easily be misinterpreted and may cause division within the church community.
According to him, the primary mission of the church is to spread the word of God and promote peace and unity and therefore urged men of God to focus on winning souls to the Kingdom of God rather than engaging in political speculations.
“I will advice Ministers of God especially prophets to be careful with the kind of things they say all in the name of prophesies ahead of this year’s elections. We should remember that we have NPP and NDC members in our churches and therefore we should be very mindful of what we say.
“Lets us go to the polls with love, vote in peace, go home and patiently wait for the results of the elections, we are going to vote for someone to come to power and I don’t see the need for us to engage in any form electoral violence as we go to the polls.” He said.
Apostle Professor Stephen Sawiri, also advised the youth to desist from any action that may put the reputation of the election into disrepute, he encouraged them to respect the views of others to prevent any confrontation that may lead to electoral violence.
“I will urge the youth to exercise patience and tolerate the views of others before, during, and after the elections, most of the electoral violence are caused by the youth and I want the youth to remember that the person they will be voting may have his or her children living outside the country, so they should think about their future and desists from any violence. ” Apostle Stephen Sawiri said.
