The National Chairman for the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah has described the Ashanti region as a decorated shrine for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), a place, he claims, where the ruling party initiates flashy development projects only when elections are near.
Speaking at the day three of his retail campaign at Achiase, in the Atwima Mponua constituency of the Ashanti region, he accused the NPP of neglecting the region’s important needs until campaign season, when a flurry of projects is launched to secure votes without sustained commitment, urging the people of Ashanti to prove to the party that the region is not their Shrine.
He further indicated that the Nana Addo led NPP government claims that they have constructed roads more than every government, emphasizing that they claim of constructing 12 thousand kilometers of roads across Ghana yet most communities especially in the Ashanti Region where the NPP get most of their votes from lack access to road network, urging the people of Ashanti to demand for the roads the NPP claims and boasts of.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia noted that the road leading to Achiaase and it environs was awarded for contract under the NDC government when they built the E- Block at Adoebawura, which after eight years of numerous promises by this government, the road still remains the same.
Nana Kofi Apraku, the Gyaasehene of Achiase traditional council expressed belief and confidence in the NDC winning the 2024 general elections, adding that they should not be left out of development when elected.
“For years now, our roads have remained untouched by the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), causing a lot of travel challenges for the people of this community and neighboring communities”,he said.
Nana Kofi Apraku further pleaded with the chairman to support the community with two hundred bags of cement to complete the nurses quarters that’s in its completion stage to accommodate nurses in the community.
