The Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area and Vice President of the Gonja Traditional Council, Buipe Wura Abdulai Jinapor II, has urged Ghanaians, particularly those in the North, to avoid any actions that could lead to electoral violence before, during, and after the 2024 December 7th polls.

He urged them to accept the results of the elections in good faith, highlighting that the flagbearers of the two main political parties, the NPP and NDC, are both Northerners as such, and the victory of either party will ultimately benefit the North.

The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress, John Dramani Mahama is a member of the Gonja ethnic group in the Savanna Region of Ghana and hails from Bole, while the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Mahamudu Bawumia, is a member of the Mamprusi ethnic group in the Northern region of Ghana.

During his speech at the 2024 Benkadi Kurubi Festival in Kintampo North District of the Bono East Region, Buipe Wura Abdulai Jinapor II, said the elections is between two brothers and sees no reason violence especially among their supporters.

Buipe Wura Abdulai Jinapor II, urged the Electoral Commission of Ghana to put in adequate measures to ensure that this upcoming elections will be free, fair, and transparent.

“I am pleading with everybody especially we the Northerners that the outcome of the elections will not be a loss for any of them, whoever wins it will bring it home. So they should desists form any violence or anything that will lead to violence.

“I also pray the Electoral Commissioner will do her best to make this elections free, fair, and transparent.” He said

He emphatically urged journalists to stress in their reportage this year’s elections is basically a contest between two brothers and their supporters especially party communicators must refrain from insults whenever they get the opportunity to propagate their manifestos on the various media platforms.

“Please carry it along, that elections is between two brothers, there will be no loser and no winner, we only need transparent, fair, and free elections which will be devoid of violence.” He told the gathering.
