Bono East Regional Minister, Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan, has commended the Bono East Regional Tourism Authority for their successful maiden tourism awards ceremony.

The event, held at the Bonokyempem Hall in the Techiman South Municipality of the Bono East region, aimed to recognize and reward individuals and organizations who have made significant contributions to the tourism industry.

Although the National Tourism Awards was instituted by the Ghana Tourism Authority in 1997 to reward excellent performance in the tourism sector. It is one of the flagship events of the GTA and it sets the tone for high standards in service delivery among practitioners in the tourism sector, the event at the Bonokyempem Hall, was the first of its kind in the Bono East Region since its creation in 2019.

The ceremony was a huge success, attracting a large number of attendees and generating significant interest in the region’s tourism sector.

Hon. Kwasi Adu Gyan, praised the Bono East Regional Tourism Authority for their hard work and dedication in organizing the event. He also commended the winners for their outstanding achievements and contributions to the tourism industry.

“This is the maiden edition and the standard I have seen here is very good so I commen them for such a successful program.

“The awards they presented to the award winners are very encouraging and I believe that will encourage all of us to do our best in whatever that we are doing with the hope that we will also be recognized in one way or the other. I will encourage our tourist industry to keep up the good work because I am very impressed.” He said.

The Bono East Regional Minister expressed his confidence in the region’s tourism sector and its potential for growth.

According to him, the region, has some of the unique tourist attractions and festivals in the country and believes with the cooperation of local businesses and the Bono East Tourism Authority,  the region will not only be one of the best tourism regions in Ghana but Africa at large.

“Bono East have a lot of tourist sites, all our sites are backed by rich history and that makes them very unique, Boabeng-Fiema Monkey Sanctuary, Bono Manso Slave Market, Buoyem Caves and Bats Colony, Digya National Park, Forikrom Boten Shrine and Caves, Fuller Falls, Kintampo Waterfall, these are very unique site attractions that makes us experience some of the things that makes as Akans or as Bonos.

“Our festivals, the Apoo festival, Kurubi Festival and other festivals in the region are very unique even the foods that we eat are also unique, when Nananom are celebrating the Yam Festival, we shouldn’t take it like they are hungry but if you ask them the reason for celebrating the yam festival, they will tell you that there is a very rich history behind it.” He disclosed.
