Chairperson of the Electoral Commission(EC), Jean Mensa believes the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) return to the Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) will help them to implement their work ahead of the 2024 general elections for the progress of the country.

According to her, the NDC have been very constructive and there has been valuable feedback from the NDC as well as some of the other parties that will help the EC to improve on their work ahead of the elections.

“It is a great benefit that the NDC has returned to IPAC and the discussions have been going on very well. They have been very constructive. It has been valuable feedback that has come from the NDC as well as some of the other parties. We have taken those on board and we have imput them and working to implement them in our processes and so for the just-ended registration exercise there was valuable feedback that the NDC brought on board and we have considered quite a number of ideas and the suggestions and we have taken them on board so we continue to engage in a constructive way,” Jean Mensa said this in an interview with JoyNews on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

The EC Chairperson understands going forward the relationship between the NDC and the EC will be strengthened.

“Let’s focus on IPAC, I think the relationship has gone well as I mention to you there has been a constructive dialogue on IPAC and issues are discussed, issues are raised that has gone a long way to strengthen our work so we believe that even as we go on leading up to the elections as we discuss issues that are important to our country and to the elections we will continue to receive a useful feedback that we will use to implement our work” She added.

The NDC boycotted the IPAC meeting after the party said they were not happy about the conduct of the EC.
