Zlatan Ibrahimović criticizes AC Milan’s maturity after Champions League exit

AC Milan senior adviser, Zlatan Ibrahimović, has expressed his disappointment and frustration following the club’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League.

Associazione Calcio Milan were knocked out of the competition after a 1-1 draw against Feyenoord Rotterdam at the San Siro. Milan had suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg at Stadion Feijenoord (De Kuip), resulting in a 2-1 aggregate victory for Feyenoord.

Santiago Tomás Giménez gave Milan an early lead, leveling the aggregate score just one minute into the game. However, despite their dominant performance, the Rossoneri failed to find a second goal to turn the tie in their favor.

A red card on the 51st minute for Theo Hernandez and 73rd minute strike from Feyenoord’s Julián Simón Carranza was enough to eliminate the Rossoneri from the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking after the defeat, Zlatan Ibrahimović did not hold back, stating that Milan lacked the necessary maturity to compete in the game.

“We are disappointed and angry. I think we lacked maturity: you’re leading 1-0, and you keep playing the same way. On Theo’s second yellow card, the referee was too harsh: for simulation in a game like this, at least give a warning first. The match changed after that. Now, the important thing is to stay united as a group and focus on the league: we suffer tonight, and from tomorrow, we prepare for the next objective.” He stated

On Theo Hernandez red card situation, the Swedish legend said, “When these situations happen, you can’t say if it’s right or wrong. I don’t think Theo acts; he plays his game and tries to do his best. These things happen on the pitch; it’s not like he’s looking for them.”
