Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr has derided the Electoral Commission of Ghana for the inconviniences occured in the District Level Eections.

According to him, he is very shocked and can not understand why the EC failed to prove its competence in the District Level Elections ahead of the 2024 general elections.

“Charlie, some competence level is very high…You’ve really done a good job. We need to reward these people (EC)…I can’t believe it; it’s impossible for me to understand this..Eiii EC”, Kwaesi Pratt mocked the Elecoral Commission of Ghana on Peace FM morning show dubbed “Kookroko”.

He questioned the competence and the capability of the Electoral Commission to conduct the 2024 general elections.

“Kwame, imaging these things happen in December 7th 2024 genral elections… Hey, not easy,… Opanin ‘not be easy ooo, look even the president himself’s constituency couldn’t hold their district level election, so if it is December 7th general elections, … EC you have done a good job” He added.

Kwesi Pratt ‘s comments come after the Electoral Commission postponed District Level Elections in some Electoral Areas in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions to Thursday, 21st December, 2023.

According to EC, some technical challenges enforced this decision.

“The Commission wishes to inform the general public that due to a number of technical challenges, the District Level Elections in some Electoral Areas in the Ashanti and Eastern Regions have been rescheduled to Thursday, 21st December, 2023” The EC announced in a statement signed by Acting Head, Public Affairs of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Michael Boadu.

The  Electoral Commission assured that appropriate measures will be put in place to ensure that residents in the affected areas also take part in the district level elections.

“We assure the residents of the affected areas that the District Level Elections will be held on Thursday, 21st December, 2023” The EC assured.

Meanwhile, the opposition  National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region has raised concerns over the mess in the District Level Election.

According to them, they are disappointed in the EC for causing this mess.
