Spokesperson for former President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has reacted to the ruling by Speaker of Parliament, Agban Bagbin to declare four parliamentary seats vacant.
The ruling handed by the Speaker on Thursday, October 14, 2024 comes as a shock to the New Patriotic Party caucus in Parliament and some political actors.
Bawah Mogtari, reacting to the ruling, sent her heartfelt message to the Leader of the NPP caucus in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
According to the Lawyer, Afenyo-Markin is a good person. Partisan politics and arrogance have landed them in trouble.
She advised Afenyo-Markins to be humble and respect people when God blesses him in life.
“When God blesses you very early in life, be humble, know that there are many people around, some even more capable than you and even others far better than you who were probably not chosen. Each time God promotes you, take it in all humility and respect. You are a good guy, but too partisan, and the way you disrespected and disparaged Prof. Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang was very low even for you! Take a few lessons from this experience Sir!” She wrote on her X.
Former minority leader, Haruna Iddrisu filed the motion to invoke Article 97 (1)(g) of the Constitution to that effect.
The four parliamentary seats that have been declared vacant are: NDC’s Peter Yaw Kwakye Ackah of Amenfi Central constituency, Andrew Amoakoh Asiamah of Fomena, Kojo Asante, NPP MP for Suhum in the Eastern Region, and NPP’s Cynthia Morrison of Agona West constituency.
