Overly harsh or intimidating personality: When a teacher always shouts, punishes excessively, or uses fear-based discipline, learners may withdraw instead of engaging.
Lack of approachability: If a teacher looks unwelcoming, too serious, or never smiles, learners might feel the teacher is “off-limits.”
Unfairness in treatment: Favoritism, bias, or inconsistent grading can make learners feel unsafe or discouraged.
Poor communication style: Using only big grammar, rushing lessons, or failing to explain concepts clearly may push learners away.
Failure to listen: When learners feel their opinions or concerns don’t matter, they may stop approaching the teacher.
Embarrassing learners in class: Mocking mistakes, comparing learners, or humiliating them makes them want to avoid the teacher at all costs.
Negative energy: Teachers who complain, nag, or show constant frustration create an environment learners don’t want to be around.
Lack of personal connection: Learners may avoid teachers who don’t show care for their struggles, dreams, or wellbeing beyond academics.
Fear of judgment: Some learners avoid teachers when they feel they’re not “good enough” in that subject or worry about being labeled as dull. You must guard your tongue as a teacher.
