Many communities across Ghana are facing poor road networks challenges. The deplorable road problems have existed for many years. Past and present governments have encountered the same problem.
Residents of Nkawie-Adumasa, a farming community in the Atwima Mponua District of the Ashanti region are not different from the communities facing bad road networks.
According to them, the bad nature of Adiembra – Adumasa road linking Buntumuroso, Ntobroso and other communities is affecting their farming activities.
Speaking to the media, the Dikro of Nkawie-Adumasa Nana Agyewodin Kyeremateng Ababio lamented abandoned roads in the area.
He said the NDC government under the leadership of former President John Dramani Mahama constructed the roads but they couldn’t finish but the current government has abandoned the roads.
“We are appealing to the government to fix the roads for us. Former president John Dramani Mahama government started the construction but it has been abandoned. Our people are suffering” He appealed.
For his part, the Assembly Member for Adiembra- Amangoase and Adumasa Electoral Area, Hon Issa Abdullah expressed worries of the roads network calling on government and other authorities for urgent interventions.
He questioned how important it is for them to vote during elections without basic amenities.
“There was a contractor on the road but he didn’t do anything, the situation is worse. Former President Mahama started and Nana Addo promised to complete it for us but almost 8 years now they have not shown any concern. We are not supposed to vote because of the road.” He said.
“We are appealing to the authorities to come and help us. We pay tax, we vote, so why have they abandoned us? He questioned.
“Our farm crops and cocoa are going to waste because of the road, we are appealing for government intervention. Pregnant women suffer to go to the clinic, the situation is bad” Some angry residents lament.
