West Ham United have reportedly parted ways with manager, Julen Lopetegui Argote following a series of poor results in the English Premier League.
The Hammers are currently 14th on the Premier League table with 23 points. having won just six of their 20 games this season. They have also drawn five matches and lost nine, scoring 24 goals while conceding 39 goals. The Spanish tactician, who took charge of the Hammers less than a year ago as the successor to David Moyes, has struggled to deliver consistent performances, prompting the club’s hierarchy to consider a managerial change.
Lopetegui, a former Sevilla and Real Madrid boss, was brought in with high expectations, particularly after his Europa League triumph with Sevilla. However, his tenure at West Ham has been marred by tactical inconsistencies, defensive frailties, and an inability to secure points in crucial fixtures. His dismissal by the club’s hierarchy has been anticipated by fans following is poor form as the team’s manager.
According to sources close to the club, West Ham’s board has been meeting to discuss potential successors, with a decision expected in the coming days. It is being reported that former Chelsea FC and Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club boss, Graham Stephen Potter is expected to be appointed as the new coach for West Ham United.
Potter has been out of work since he left the Blues in April 2023 following a successful stint at Brighton. The length of his contract remains to be seen but it is understood that he is happy to join initially until the end of the season.
