Chief Priest of the deity Kweku Fri, Nana Kofi Drobo IV, has issued a timely advise to Ghanaians especially farmers to exercise caution when using fire during this dry season.

On behalf of Nana Kofi Drobo IV, the Sanaahene of Wenchi Nwoase, Nana Kofi Afena, stated categorically that, in as much as the importance of fire cannot be sidelined, residence of Wenchi Nwoase and for that matter Ghanaians should be extremely careful on how they use fire as the country experience another dry season.

According to him, the effects of bushfires can be devastation as life and properties can be lost as a result of bushfire. He appealed to residents to ensure that all electrical appliances are switched off before leaving for work, and cautioned farmers against setting fires to farms without proper precautions.

“Nana Kofi Drobo says he continues to plead with all and sundry to desists from bushfire. bushfire can cause a lot of harm to humans and as such continues to pray to our conscience to desist from it.

“We are now in the dry season so we should be very careful with the usage of fire because fire is a good servant but a very cruel master. Nana Kofi Drobo wants to inform everybody to ensure they switch off their electronic appliances when they are not using them.

“Cocoa, Cashew, yams, including other cash crops are common in the erstwhile Brong Ahafo Region and they must be protected by all means, so Nana Kofi Drobo is appealing to all chiefs in the Bono Lands to learn from him and advice their people against setting up fire in bushes or in their farms during this season.” He cautioned

Nana Kofi Afena, urged farmers to involve fire fighters or fire volunteers when they burn straws from their farms as he believes that will protect surrounding crops and prevent widespread destruction.

He explained that, anybody who will be find culpable of bushfire without the appropriate precautions will be dealt with.

“From hence, anybody that will unlawfully start a fire on any land under the jurisdiction of Nana Kofi Drobo will be seriously dealt with according to the laws, traditions, and customs of the land.

“If you want to set up a fire in your farm, you have to contact the Fire Fighting Department or fire volunteers to do it else you will be dealt with when find culpable.”
