The Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwasi Pratt has warned President John Dramani Mahama not to go beyond the number of Ministers he promised to appoint prior to the 2024 general elections.

According to him, Mr. Mahama promised to work with only 60 Ministers should Ghanaians give him the mandate as the President again.

Speaking on Peace FM, monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, the veteran Journalist stated that Ghanaians will not accept more than 60 ministers from his administration.

“I have heard some NDC members saying President Mahama promised 60 Ministers but if he makes it 62 or 65 we will accept it like that. Massa, we won’t accept anything like that, he promised us 60 Ministers so that is what we are expecting. In fact, for me, I will be happy that he gives us 58 out of the 60 Ministers he promised and I will commend him but if it goes beyond the 60 by even one-quarter, we won’t accept it.” Pratt stated.

He said it is the hard time Ghanaians hold politicians accountable and force them to fulfil their promises.

“If we begin like this to say two more ministers is nothing, we are creating a path for all the Presidents not to fulfill their promises so if he promised 60 that is what we are expecting but we will thank him if it can be reduced.” He added.

“When you come to the National level, some of the Ministers don’t need Deputies, to be honest with you. I have worked at the Ministries before, I have worked at the Ministry of Youth and Sports before. Some of the Ministers don’t have too much work to do.”

Meanwhile, President Mahama has already appointed 42 Ministers without deputies.
