The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akufo-Dampare has assured that the Ghana Police Service is working assiduously to rank as the best institution in Ghana and Africa.
He said the Ghana Police Service will ensure that law and order are enforce at all course and strengthen security in the country,
Speaking in an interview with Peace Fm monitored by Elvisanokyenews.com, IGP stated that they will do everything possible to make Ghana Police Service attractive.
“Among all the institutions in Ghana, we want the Ghana Police Service to rank the first. After that we want to be recognized as the best institution in Africa and even the world. That is why we are engaging stakeholders and the people we are serving so that we will know what we should do, what we should not do and how things can be done”. IGP stated.
Last year, Ghana Police Service was the most corrupt institution in the country, a research conducted by Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) together with other stakeholders has stated.
In total, 24 institutions were sampled for the said survey.
The research was christened; Corruption in Ghana, Peoples Experiences and View.
The survey aimed to unearth corrupt institutions and provide data that will guide the formulation of policies in arresting the menace.
According to the survey, more than 17.4 million bribes were paid in 2021 with police officers topping the list of officials who take bribes at 53.2%.
The Ghana Immigration Service Officers and GRA customs officers followed in that order.
