The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana, Jean Adukwei Mensa, has disclosed that, her outfit has been very transparent throughout the 2024 electoral process.

According to her, the EC has not hidden any information from the public and has been very responsive in dealing with all issues that has popup right from the registration process.

Jean Meansa said the transparency and responsiveness of the Electoral Commission has have been key factors building the trust between the citizenry and the EC

“As a commission we believe that trust is build on transparency, the sharing of information, responsiveness, and providing the citizenry with facts and information and evidence.

“We believe as a commission, we have demonstrated that we have been transparent, we have been responsive, we have not hidden any information, we have been responsive in addressing the issues of the citizenry in a timely manner and we have provided them with evidence and facts.

“You will attest that from the registration through to the declaration, we have opened up all our processes to the citizenry. I believe that this is the only commission that has done that.” She said

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission of Ghana, said this while addressing political parties at the end of the first-ever televised Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting in Accra on last Tuesday 1st October, 2024.

She further explained that, the EC since 2020, have provided Ghanaians with daily info graphs of the number of person they have registered.

“If you look at the registration since 2020, we have provided the citizenry with daily info graphs, daily information on the number of persons who have registered across the country, drilling down to male, female voters and also to persons with disabilities.

“So any interested citizen or political party should be at the end the day be able to collate with the number of persons who have registered throughout the country on any given day.

“In the conduct of our affairs, we may make mistakes and we have made some errors which do not go the heart and does not affect the credibility of the registration and for that matter the elections. They are minor errors and its not to say that we have gloss over it but the good news is that we have been very responsive.

“We have come out very quickly, we have issued statement, we have made corrections and we have moved on, we have not hidden the truth or being quiet” She said
