Yet to be crowned Guinness World Record broker of longest singing marathon by an individual, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has finished her journey with 126 hours, 52 minutes.
The six days journey of Afua started from December 24, at the Akwaaba Village in Accra.
Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s aim was to break the Guinness World Record of longest singing marathon by an individual.
Many personalities including the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, including Nana Ama McBrown, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, Sista Afia, Afronitaa, Delay, Cina Soul, Clemento Suarez, Akuapem Poloo, Lawyer Nti, Piesie Esther, and OB Amponsah, endorsed the event and encouraged her to make Ghana proud.
Sunil Waghmare is the current Guinness World Record holder for the longest singing marathon.
According to Guinness World Record, Sunil Waghmare (India) in Nagpur, India, record started from March 3-7 2012 and the singing marathon lasted for 105 hours.
While awaiting to be confirmed by Guinness World Record, Afua on her X post proudly said she has broken the record and set a new one.
She thanked Ghanaians for their love, dedication, motivation and prayers which, according to her, gave her strength throughout this journey.
To recognize the love of Ghanaians in this competition, Afua stated that it would not have been possible without their support.
“THIS IS WHERE I END MY JOURNEY! 126 HOURS, 52MINS. WE BROKE A RECORD AND SET A NEW ONE. IT WAS YOUR LOVE, DEDICATION, MOTIVATION AND PRAYERS THAT GAVE ME THE STRENGTH TO GET ON MY FEET EVERYTIME AND KEEP GOING FOR THIS LONG. IT WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE WITHOUT YOU! THANK YOU” She wrote.
Meanwhile, her husband, Kofi Owusu Aduonum, has expressed his profound gratitude to Ghanaians for the overwhelming support from the beginning of the competition.
He said the support is massive and encouraging. Adding that Ghanaians have demonstrated true love.
